What do you do all day?

Occasionally I have to share one of those e-mail pass alongs cuz they are just too funny not too. But I don't forward so here ya go! :)

What do you do all day?

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pyjamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.

In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pyjamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'

She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?'

'Yes,' was his incredulous reply.

She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

A New Ward

So there was a special stake meeting today for redefining the ward boundaries in our stake because they were creating a new ward. And we got the cut! They took our side of the road from our ward to put in the new ward. I'm sort of sad about it because practically everyone I DO know in the ward is still in the old ward :( But I'm sure a lot of people will be feeling that way. They took parts from either 3 or 2 wards to create the new one. How exciting though to be there at the beginning of a brand new ward! All I can say now is PLEASE DON'T PUT ME IN NURSERY (watch there's where I'm gonna end up, lol, but please no. Seriously I was just there for 2 years!) But still rather exciting. Dennis is sort of sad since he won't be in his calling anymore (he loved being the secretary in the Elder's Quorum. I had big plans for being in Achievement Days myself but since I never really got started with it (August was going to be my first month) it's not really that big of a deal to me. We'll see where it takes us.

Still Potty Training

Well, we are now on Day 5... It's going OK. She peed in the potty twice yesterday and she's already peed in the potty twice today so atleast we might be on the right track. I just am struggling cuz I think she could be doing a lot better and she's just not because she doesn't want to, but who knows.

So, I went and got my hair cut today. OK, not cut but trimmed. I had to specify cuz when I told Laura I was going to get my hair cut she freaked out "Really, how short are you getting it cut?" So, no not cut, just trimmed. LOL. It's been almost 2 1/2 years since the last time I had it trimmed and I figured it was time. Although, mini rant coming on... Is my hair so uncommonly long that hair people don't know how to deal with it or is it just so long it has no choice but to get tangled when they wash it. If you treat it right, seriously it doesn't end up a snarled mess but when they wash my hair it ends up so tangled it takes them 10 minutes just to comb through it. It's ridiculous, it really is.

Oh, do you like the new pictures of Danielle I posted? I took those for her 2 month pictures :) I think she's adorable :)

Professional Potty Trainer?

Is there anywhere to hire one? lol... OK, now that I've actually got Charity to pee on the potty and have hope again I'm not needing one as much as when I came up with the idea yesterday. But yup, you heard me right she peed on the potty! I'm so proud of my little girl. We had her potty party for her and she loved it, she was so proud to be having a party. lol. Well, we'll see how it goes from here. I'm thinking it's a little too late to turn back now so hopefully I have a potty trained girl soon! Oh yeah, anyone need a box of diapers. I don't know what I was thinking in buying a new box this weekend when I knew I was planning on starting to potty train on Monday. Ah well, I can always take it back to the store.

Potty Training

So, Charity is potty training... We'll see how it goes! We started yesterday and she hasn't actually managed to make it to the potty yet... :( But she's really not liking peeing her panties and having to change them so we may be close to a breakthrough? Any advice? lol.

I thought she was ready a few months ago and started trying but at that time she refused to even touch the potty let alone sit on it so I gave up very quickly but the end of last week she started sitting on it (bribed of course!) We're trying to do Dr. Phil's one day training method with some rewards thrown in... We're on day 2 so we'll see how it goes. lol... Maybe I should have bought the book! It sounds like a good idea but maybe I just didn't fill her full of enough liquids yesterday! or got started too late... I don't know but during the day she only peed 2x and pooped 1x. Well, hopefully we're on the right track!

Tag you're it!

I have been tagged!! My friend Amy tagged me!

Ten years ago: I was in high school working on getting my driver's license. That was the summer I also met my friend Mysti.

Five things on today's to-do list:
1- skip church, actually it was go to church but we didn't get up in time :( It's hard adjusting to this 9 o'clock schedule! (it just changed for us in June)
2- play games (what can I say, I just got a Wii last month and yesterday I got a Wii Fit!)
3- cook dinner
4- give Charity and Danielle a bath
5- take a shower (why is it so hard for a mom of a newborn to find time for this!?! lol)

A snack I enjoy: Anything? lol, I am such a snacker! But right now I am totally in love with the mini chocolate charleston chews. yummy, oh and the little caramel rice cakes. double yummy.

Things I would do if I were a millionaire: put most of it into savings/retirement so that when we are older we don't have to worry about how we're going to live! OK, but I'd also play a little too... 2 new cars, pay off the house and all our student loans, help out both of our parents financially

Places I have lived: In Idaho Preston and Pocatello, then Oregon, Washingtion and West Virginia and in Utah Logan, Lake Point and Tooele

Hmmm, I tag

Things magically clean themselves

OK, I've gotta say the one really nice thing about FIL living here right now is that magically get clean. He's been really trying to help a lot around the house and so like the other day Charity ahd fun playing with her cereal and when I went to clean it up, it was already cleaned up! Then one of the counters needed cleaned off and when I went to clean it later in the day, it was clean! He's vacummed and swept and washed walls. He's just been a great help. I don't know what I'm going to do after he finds a job! He takes Charity outside a couple times a day (which she absolutely loves!) But I do have a complaint, he's too quiet walking around the house! Seriously, you never know where he is! lol.

Tonight we are planning on going to the drive in movies! I'm so excited about going. Hopefully they are good movies. I know that one of them should be Indiana Jones. We saw that in theaters and it was a good movie. Dennis' dad wants to see it too so that'll be nice that he'll get to.

Still around

So, it's been a week sine I posted! So far having Dennis' dad move in hasn't been too bad. But everyone is still adjusting so we'll see what it's like once he feels settled and he's been around for a while. Charity is loving having Grandpa around though. Anytime she wants to go outside, she runs up to him, outside grandpa. I know Dennis is worried about him, I had strict instructions not to leave him alone for too long today. But I talked about my friend Kim putting up her water slide today so he thought I was just going to disappear for hours and hours. Which i wouldn't. She did put up her water slide though. It was fun and Charity actually climbed up and went down the slide today! Yay! It's the first time she's been willing to do it but I think she really enjoyed it :) Atleast she smiled every time and kept doing it again! lol, although i think she might have had more fun climbing up it than sliding! Well, it's late I will try to add more tomorrow.

Redefining Normal - Again

Well, our normal is going to have to be redefined again after this week. When Dennis's parents split up to begin with Dennis made the offer to both of them that one of them could come here and live with us if needed (their hardly making it financially together, let alone apart). And, yes, he checked with me before he did that :P Anyway, so Dennis' dad is taking us up on the offer and moving in this upcoming weekend. We're moving some stuff around and getting the house ready now. Good thing his class ended last week so he can help me! But yeah, so we are once again working on redefining normal around here. I'll let you know how it goes. Any tips or advice?

Article for Job Application

OK, so I posted about the job I am applying for. Well, I had to write an article about something related to stay at home moms for it. It will be writing geared for stay at home moms. So, here is the article I wrote and submitted (I just barely wrote it yesterday and submitted it, oops, it took a while!) So, let me know what you think!

*****

The one big question all stay at home moms face is how to find the time to interact with other adults and get away from ‘kid talk’ for a little while. Not possible you say? Oh, but it is, and here are some tips to help you rediscover some adult conversation.

While your significant other is one of the most important people in your life, it’s easy to lose track of that. So, tip number one is to talk to them. Set aside a little bit of time every day to talk to each other. Whether it’s first thing in the morning, right after they get home, or over dinner; find out how each other’s day went, talk about the weather, or what you’re watching on T.V. It really doesn’t matter what you talk about as long as you find some time to talk about something other than the kids and kid related stuff.

Next, you’ve got to find another stay at home mom to do things with. Whether she lives down the block, across the neighborhood, or on the other side of town, having a friend who can relate to where you are in life is very important. If you both have kids around the same age, even better, your kids can play while you get to have some of that elusive adult conversation. You can also take turns swapping babysitting for each other. Then you can find the time to go out with your significant other, a trip to the store, or one of those times when something comes up and you need a last minute sitter.

Join a playgroup. There are a lot of resources online to help you find a playgroup in your area. You can also check your local newspaper or town’s newsletter for ads or information on local moms groups. If you belong to a religious organization and they don’t have one set-up, get one started. Chances are there is at least one other mom there wishing for the same thing. The benefits to playgroups are that not only do the kids get to run off some energy; it gives you a chance to talk to other adults.

Then, find some one to exercise with. You can join an aerobics class, a walking group, or partner up with someone to go to the gym. The key is to not do it alone; things are always more fun with a friend! Not only will it help you feel better, but you’ll get a chance to talk about things other than housework, yard work and nap time schedules.

Also find a hobby that gets you out of the house at least once a month. It doesn’t matter what the hobby is as long as it is something you are interested in. Chances are you’ll meet people while you are doing this that you’ll have things in common with that will be a good source of adult conversation, even if it’s just bragging about your kids.

Keep in touch with your friends you used to do things with. If you’ve lost touch, reconnect. In order to not lose sight of whom you used to be and who you’ve become, it’s important to still be able to talk to those who knew you then. But it also gives you a chance every once in a while to reminisce about the old days. Don’t get caught in the trap of reliving who you used to be and forget who you are now, but also don’t forget to remember because knowing where you’ve been can help you relate to others you can come in contact with and can even make for some great conversation points.

The internet also has a lot of ways to find some adult interaction. You can join an online message board. It can be for stay at home moms, about your hobby, for people in your area or just about any thing else you can imagine. There are sites out there designed for just about everything so you’ll be able to find other adults who are as passionate about something as you are. Then there are Blogs, which are another great way to keep in touch with those you don’t see very often. While it doesn’t give you actual adult conversation it allows you to spend a few minutes collecting your thoughts and getting to think as an adult which is an important skill you’ll want to have available when you do get some time away from the ‘kid talk.’
